The Field-Map system was originally developed for national forest inventories (NFIs). Today, it represents a unique integrated software and hardware solution that has been successfully deployed in numerous national and large-scale forest inventory projects worldwide.
The core idea behind Field-Map for NFIs is continuous software development combined with high methodological flexibility. The system is designed to accommodate a wide variety of national inventory methodologies without the need for costly, country-specific software development and long-term maintenance.
Another key aspect of Field-Map is its ability to support a large number of parallel field teams working under unified data standards. The system has been successfully used in national forest inventories in ten countries, in several cases supporting dozens of field teams operating simultaneously.
Training in Field-Map technology for two forest engineers is provided free of charge with every purchase of a Field-Map bundle.
New versions of the software are released regularly, typically on a yearly basis. Each Field-Map bundle license includes one year of free technical support and software upgrades. Software updates and demo versions are available for download from www.field-map.com.
Technical support is provided via e-mail and phone. The standard warranty period is two years for the software and one year for the hardware components.
